Flying Fish: Swimming Beyond Boundaries비어(飛魚): 경계를 넘는 유영

Across a ground full of red heat, a yellow fish swims with its head turned downward. Its fins and tail unfurl into ribbons of blue and yellow that stretch to the top of the picture like clouds, like wind, and beside it a mountain and clouds drift together. There is an old story of a fish in the northern sea that one day became a bird and flew ninety thousand li across the sky. Perhaps the borders that divide water from sky, and fish from bird, are only lines we have drawn ourselves. Though the body is bound to the world, the heart is already swimming beyond those borders.

붉은 열기가 가득한 바탕 위로 노란 물고기 한 마리가 머리를 아래로 두고 유영한다. 지느러미와 꼬리는 푸르고 노란 띠가 되어 구름처럼, 바람처럼 화면 위쪽까지 길게 풀려 나가고, 그 곁으로 산과 구름이 함께 떠 있다. 북쪽 바다의 물고기가 어느 날 새가 되어 구만 리 하늘을 날았다는 옛이야기가 있다. 물과 하늘, 물고기와 새를 가르는 경계는 어쩌면 우리가 그어 놓은 선일 뿐이다. 몸은 현실에 매여 있어도, 마음은 이미 그 경계 너머를 헤엄치고 있다.
