Light of Aspiration: Reaching the Heavens발원(發願)의 빛: 하늘에 닿는 길

At the bottom of a deep blue ground stand two candles. From their tips, white smoke rises in coiling loops, and as it climbs it spreads into clouds of apricot, pale green and yellow that fill the sky. Prayer was likely born before any religion, as an instinct of people standing before fear. As it has been said, the heart has its reasons which reason does not know; we join our hands without fully knowing why. Candle smoke is the swiftest path to the sky. May the small wish in every heart quietly reach it along that path.

짙푸른 바탕 아래쪽에 촛불 두 자루가 서 있다. 그 끝에서 하얀 연기가 고리처럼 감기며 피어오르고, 올라갈수록 살구빛, 연둣빛, 노란빛 구름으로 번져 하늘을 가득 채운다. 기도는 어느 종교보다 먼저, 두려움 앞에 선 사람의 본능으로 생겨났을 것이다. 마음에는 이성이 알지 못하는 이유가 있다는 말처럼, 우리는 까닭을 다 알지 못한 채 두 손을 모은다. 촛불의 연기는 하늘로 가는 가장 빠른 길이다. 누구의 가슴에나 있는 작은 발원이 그 길을 따라 조용히 닿기를.
