Small Work – Rising Even in Darkness소품 – 어둠 속에서도 피어오른다

Hope does not grow only in bright places. Rather, it blooms more urgently in the deepest dark. I wanted to paint a heart that never let go even in darkness, and the light that seeped out from it. Darkness is not despair, but fertile ground that cradles new life.

An old scripture says that unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. A seed first opens its eyes not in the light, but in the dark soil. That is how small lives grow stronger, in the dark.

희망은 밝은 곳에서만 자라지 않는다. 오히려 더 깊은 어둠 속에서 더 간절하게 피어난다. 나는 어둠 속에서도 끝내 놓지 않은 마음, 그 마음에서 번져 나온 빛을 그리고 싶었다. 어둠은 절망이 아니라, 새 생명을 품는 비옥한 땅이다.

한 알의 밀이 땅에 떨어져 죽지 않으면 한 알 그대로 남고, 죽으면 많은 열매를 맺는다는 말씀이 있다. 씨앗은 빛 속이 아니라 캄캄한 흙 속에서 먼저 눈을 뜬다. 작은 생명은 그렇게, 어둠 속에서 더 단단해진다.
