Late at night, alone, I hear the low sound of the daegeum, a Korean bamboo flute, among thoughts that rise without words. I hoped this fan would be not a tool for cooling the heat, but something that quietly holds the trembling of the heart, like a silent presence that stays beside us in such moments.

It is said that Silla had a flute whose sound could put ten thousand waves to sleep. When it was played, enemies withdrew, illness was healed, and the raging sea grew calm. Could the waves of my own heart be stilled that way? Gently waving this fan that holds the night, I wait for that sound.
