This painting is the story of two Bodhisattvas. Though gazing in different directions, they are seated side by side on the same cloud. One closes their eyes in serenity, while the other looks upon the world with compassionate eyes. Their appearance is as if Wisdom (智慧) and Compassion (慈悲) are seated together, crossing all worlds.

The cloud is constantly changing. It has no form, no boundaries, and cannot be grasped. The two beings seated upon such a cloud evoke an atmosphere of peace and liberation that seems to dissolve all boundaries.

As we navigate life, we are constantly asked to choose one side, but the Bodhisattvas in this painting embrace everything. Understanding and forgiveness, acceptance and transcendence—all those emotional colors are contained upon the cloud. While painting this work, I imagined the two Bodhisattvas within myself. I earnestly wish that I, too, can one day ride the clouds and gaze upon the world with a smile, transcending my own narrow perspective and afflictions.
