Time Passes Over the Mountain and Water Flows Through the Heart
Spiritual practice (Suyeong) is always the task of crossing a rugged mountain. Time accumulates and flows, passing quietly over everything. It permeates like the wind pruning branches and the sun slowly setting. And my heart, like water embracing all that time, flows onward. Below that mountain, my heart becomes still water. It flows while also lingering, and though it lingers, it ultimately flows away completely.
What rises onto the ripples are past faces, unspoken words, and hearts that could not be held. The water silently embraces all of it and flows down the mountain again. I observe that sublime flow upon the canvas.
This work speaks to the fact that that very flow is my spiritual practice, my painting, and simply the entire process that was me.
